Malcolm's family
To me is funny to see how the roles have changed between the two brothers. This also shows a pattern in Malcolm's family. They can't keep a constant lifestyle because their childhood was pretty tough because of the death of their father and mistreat of their mother. This leads to many family members to take bad decisions and suffer the consequences. I think that is why this autobiography made a huge impact because the story is not only told by Malcolm's perspective but also tells the effect of their family being a black family.

Samuel: This is a really good response. I think that many people consider the Nation of Islam a cult. Cults are often inviting to people w/ unstable lives b/c they promise stability and an escape from the lives they currently live. They offer a spiritual life that seems preferable to the life they're currently living which is why it has appealed to a lot of African American men in the prison system.
