Malcolm X writes of the riots in Harlem in 1935. Why do you think people riot? Why do they destroy the businesses and property in their own neighborhoods?

Most people riot in order to protest for what they want or something they are against. For example some people may want a change in the way certain things run or just simply their beliefs. Rioting is simply a more aggressive manner in protest. From high school I remember that the riot started over theft, so the the riot was intended into businesses and not people. Which was as to why they were destroying properties as well as businesses in their own neighborhood. It was also to protest against racial injustice. In their case they want their voices heard through rioting.
