My opinion about how Elijah Muhammad judged white people.
I disagree with how Elijah Muhammad expressed his statement by saying only white people are evil. In my opinion, I think that all people are good and bad not just white people. It was wrong for how white people treated africans but, In this world every race has done something evil to one another, which has led to protests, wars, fights, and a division of separation.

I agree with Eric's response because from my perspective Elijah Muhammad was just provoking negroes against whites. As Eric stated that it is bad the way whites treated blacks but everyone is different. Some whites had different ways to treat blacks as in the women that wanted to get involved with black man. Also Sophia went through thick and thin but still stuck up with Malcolm and even went to jail for him.
ReplyDeleteI agree as well, but i feel that Elijah just wanted to unite the black society together as one. i think the most odd thing about him is the story he told Ella to tell Malcolm of how white people were created. In a way it showed Elijah's intention to get the black community to fight the white community, kinda like a call to action.
ReplyDeleteThese are great responses. It is peculiar to read this interpretation of history. From our perspective it probably sounds a little silly--a mad scientist w/ a big head attempting to make white people. However, we have to look at it from the perspective of black people who, at mid-century were often killed w/ no consequence for their murders, who the vast majority lived in poverty and received substandard educations. If we take it literally, it seems like hocus pocus. But if we take it metaphorically, it probably seemed to a lot of black people that the white man (society) was full of "devils." Or as Malcolm X says, he has "acted devilishly."
